Sub-Topic 1:  DEFINITION OF ELECTRONIC MAIL

Electronic mail, commonly known as e-mail first entered substantial use in the 1960s and by the mid-1970s had taken the form now recognized as email. It is a method of exchanging digital or electronic messages across the internet or other computer networks; an internet service which enables us to send and receive messages through the internet. However, before you make use of the e-mail service, one needs to be connected to the internet. Email servers accept, forward, deliver, and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need to connect only briefly, typically to a mail server or a webmail interface, or for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.
