TOPIC: Preparation, packaging and marketing of food items: (a)Differences between snacks and main meals, (b) Snacks and drinks available in the society; (c) Duties of food sellers/providers for the public.

SUB TOPIC 1: Differences between snacks and main meals

Snacks: These are simple and quickly prepared meals, very convenient and easy to eat. Snack should include the essential nutrient needed by the body to perform its normal functions.  E.g. buns, gala, chips etc.

Main meals: These are the real food eaten. It may be breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Differences between snacks and main meals

              Snacks     Main meal
They are mostly fast foods They are real food
They are simple and quickly prepared They may be elaborate and take some time in preparation
They do not really need the use of cutlery Cutlery set are been used
They can be eaten anywhere with the hand or finger They are mostly eaten at the table

SUB TOPIC 2: Snacks and drinks available in the society

Snacks

  1. Buns
  2. Plantain chips
  3. Chin-chin
  4. Roasted groundnut
