SUB TOPIC 1: MEANING OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Every citizen of a nation has a right they should enjoy. These rights have to be protected as stipulated in the constitution.

Meaning of Human Rights- rights are those things that human beings are morally or legally allowed to enjoy to do or have.

Right are privileges enjoyed by citizen of a nation within the confinement of the law. They are like one’s property; they cannot be taken always from someone and be given to another person.

Human Rights are those basic rights enjoyed by all human beings as soon as they are born; it is a universal right for all people all over the globe, which are guaranteed them by their respective governments through the provisions of the constitution.

TYPES OF HUMAN RIGHTS

The fundamental human rights of Nigeria citizens are entrenched in the written constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. These human rights include:

  1. Social Rights – these are right that help to protect the quality of life of the citizen in a community, state or nation. they are:
  2. Right to education.
  3. Right to dignity of human person
  4. Right to freedom of movement
