A playwright also known as a dramatist is a person who writes dramatic literature or drama.

A Playwright is a person responsible for writing dramatic material for the purpose of performance within the theatre.

As a career dramatist one can be a good income earner.

A career dramatist is famous and greatly recognized in the society

They are high-status figures in the film industry and in general society.

This may be considered to be the result of the more literary approach that has characterized the theatre since its roots in poetry.

It is also because of the hard fact that according to the dramatist’s guild, the playwright has the final say on a production. This situation which leaves less room for the director to be as much of an auteur as the film director, since the playwright’s vision takes precedence.

Some writers are phenomenally successful and receive several high–profile production a year.

Some writers move abroad into TV, or academia. It leads to the paths to personal development in this arena will depend on where the playwright’s priorities lie, the sort of work they wish to produce and for whom.
