Identification of various types of Bed Linen
Bed linen includes all the different types of fabric materials used to make the bed. They are:
- Mattress Cover- used for covering the mattress in order to protect it from dust and dirt
- Bed sheets: used for making the bed
- Pillow cases- used for covering the pillow
- Bed spreads- used as spread over a made bed and a covering for the person lying on the bed.
- Blankets- used as a covering for warmth in the cold nights.
Characteristics of A Good Bed Linen
Bed linen should
- Be comfortable
- Have a good appearance
- Be durable and withstand abrasion while on bed and during laundry
- The strength of the material, its appearance and comforts depend on the type of fabrics and we’ve chosen.
Ideally the fabrics should be
- Strong when wet than when dry
- Smooth but not slippery
- Absorbent
- Cool
- Able to withstand creasing
Bed Making
Materials required for bed making includes:
- Bed and mattress
- Two bed sheets (the bottom and top sheets)
- A pillow and pillow case (more pillows can be used)
