The postgraduate school of the institution began as a Board of Postgraduate Studies in 1986 before it later became a what it is today having the following Postgraduate Admission Requirements in FUTA.

Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Each programme levels require different academic requirements.

  1. For masters programme, a university degree of not less than second class lower or an higher national diploma (HND) with a postgraduate diploma with upper credit.
  2. A postgraduate diploma programme requires higher national diploma (HND) with at least lower credit or a university degree with a minimum of third-class grade.
  3. For Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), a masters degree with CGPA of 3.50 and/or 60% minimum average score.

Application Process

Application for any of the postgraduate programmes will be done online via the institution website. Kindly follow the steps below;

  1. First, go through the list of programmes in any of your chosen level and see if there is a programme you will love. Also check the specific requirements.
  2. Log on to the application portal
  3. Create an account to apply
  4. Make payment at the bank on etranzact platform
  5. Login back to confirm the payment and to fill up the application form.
  6. Show up for your examination or screening and proposal defense as the case maybe.

After this, look up to seeing your name on the admission list. If you pass your screening, you will definitely be offered admission.

NOTE

All applicants from other institution are required to send their academic transcript via their institution before the application closes.

Also, Ph.D applicants are required to forward their Research Proposal to admissions@futa.edu.ng with title in this format “surname_school/dept.doc” e.g. Adekunle_sos/bio.researchproposal

Please note that statement of account for more than four years is not accepted and that you will not be required to present your O level results.

Duration of programme

The courses offered at the university’s postgraduate school can be grouped into a few major divisions. Each of the division have several courses under them. The divisions are;

Postgraduate Diploma

This takes between eighteen (18) months and twenty-four (24) months for full time students while part time may take between 18 months and 36 months. Applicants for this program must possess a first degree or an higher national diploma (HND) with a lower credit in relevant field.

 Masters Programme

For masters program, the duration is between eighteen (18) months and twenty four (24) months.

 Doctor of Philosophy Programme

For Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programmes, full time shall take between thirty six (36) months and sixty (60) months while part time will take between forty eight (48) months and seventy two (72) months.
