SUB-TOPIC 1: PAUL’S FIRST MISSIONARY JOURNEY
After Paul’s conversion to Christianity, he began to preach in Damascus that Jesus was the Son of God. One day, when the Church was praying and fasting, the Holy Spirit ordered that Barnabas and Paul should be set apart for a special job he had for them. This was a direct instruction that the two people should be sent out to preach the good news about Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. Paul, Barnabas and John Mark left Antioch of Syria for the port of Seleucia under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. From there they sailed for the Island of Cyprus. Their first point of call was Salamis where they entered the Synagogue of the Jews and preached the gospel. When they arrived Paphos, they met a Proconsul of the Island named Sergius Paulus who invited Paul and Barnabas to his house because he was eager to hear the word of God, but a certain Jewish magician known as Bar-Jesus or Elymas in Greek language was
