ASPECT: STRUCTURE
TOPIC: SYNONYMS
CONTENT:
A synonym is a word that has the same meaning with another word. For example: the word ‘sacred’ is a synonym for afraid and fear while car is synonymous to automobile.
Words and synonyms
- Schooling – Education, study, discipline, tuition
- Safety – refuge, security, shelter, cover, defence
- Journey – transit, trip, tour, travelling
- Admit – acknowledge, recognize, concede, confess
- Beautiful – pretty, handsome, attractive, lovely
- Big – large, great
- Boring – dull, tedious
- Check – examine, inspect, go over
- Glad – happy, pleased, delighted, thrilled
- Honest – frank, direct, open, outspoken, straight.
EVALUATION:
Using your dictionary, find out the synonyms of the following words:
Little, kind, success, kingdom, regular, sweet, young, bitter, disease, cheap and fun.
WEEKEND ASSIGNMENT: Use the synonyms of these words to make sentences: Bitter, better, rule, house and strong.
