TOPIC: CARE OF COMPUTER
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to list ways of taking good care of a computer system.

Behavioral Objectives: pupils are familiar with the topic in their previous classes.
CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Computer hardware is the physical component of a computer that we can see and touch. A Computer is an electronic device that allows people to perform different tasks such as typing letters, graphic design, computing, playing games, sending and receiving emails, communicating, online shopping and banking and so on.
Hardware components
The hardware components of the computer system are the parts that we can see, feel or touch.
The three types of hardware components of the computer system are:
- i) Input devices
- ii) System unit
- iii) Output devices
Input devices
We enter data into the computer through the input devices
These input devices are the keyboard, mouse, joystick, microphone and light pen.
The System Unit
The system unit is made up of the central processing unit (CPU), and the main memory. Data is processed in the CPU and it has two parts.
These are the:
- i) Arithmetic and logic unit
- ii) Control unit
Output devices
Through the output devices, the computer gives out information to the user. This information is the result of the processing activities in the CPU.
The monitor, printer, and speakers are these output devices.
CARE OF COMPUTER HARDWARE
- Position the computer properly.
- Keep in an appropriate (air-conditioned) environment.
- Avoid liquid dropping into the system.
- Avoid food particles.
- Use dust covers.
- Unplug the system when not in use for long.
Strategies& Activities:
- Step1: The teacher revises the previous topic.
- Step2: The teacher introduces the new topic.
- Step3: The teacher explains the new topic.
- Step4: Teacher welcomes pupils’ questions.
- Step5: The teacher evaluates the pupils
ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

WRAP-UP (CONCLUSION): The teacher goes over the topic once again for better understanding
