Conforming with the data made available by WAEC, the following are the reasons why candidates fail physics 2018 WAEC. More to the reasons are the student shear unpreparedness and laziness which is no rampant nowadays. Dear prospective candidates, there is price to pay for success.
Candidates Weakness
The following are most noticeable deficiency among the candidates
- Limited knowledge about optical fibres, semiconductors, binding energy and interpretation and application of velocity-time graph;
- Inability to define terms correctly in Physics;
- Inability to handle correctly calculations involving numbers expressed in standard form;
- Lack of knowledge of the acronym LASER;
- No proper understanding of the mathematical relationship of acceleration and deceleration;
- Inability to explain why emf is induced in an a.c. generator when the coil is rotated.
Suggested Remedies
Based on the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:
- Teachers should discourage role learning
- Classroom instructions should be backed up with appropriate demonstration
- Teachers should expose students to more classwork and assignments
- Teachers should upgrade their teaching skills to embrace modern methodology
- Qualified Physics graduate should be employed by the government Students should be more dedicated to their studies
