The linear expansivity of brass is 2 x 10^¯5C¯¹. If the volume of a piece of brass is 10cm³ at 0ºC. What will be its volume at 100ºC?

A. 10.06cm³
B. 10.04 cm³
C. 10.02 cm³
D. 10.20 cm³

Correct Answer:

Option A = 10.06cm³

Explanation

3 x α = V2−V1/V1×Δθ

3 x 2 x 10−5 = V2−10/100×10

V2 = (100 x 10 x 3 x 2 10−2) + 10

= 10.06 cm3
