TOPIC:  Vowel sounds:/əu/ and /au//

Description of Vowel /əu/: This is a closing diphthong.  In the production of the sound, the glide begins with the centre of the tongue and moves to a position between the centre and the back with a slight closing movement of the lower jaw.  The shape of the lips is neutral at the beginning of the articulation but becomes rounded at the end.
