SUB TOPIC1: THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. John 3:19; 8:12; 9:4-5;
With three instances, Jesus describes Himself as the light of the world. In the first instance he had an encounter with Nicodemus. During this encounter Jesus said, “And this is the Judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” John 3:19. Jesus also mentioned that evil doers hate the light so as not to expose their evil ways. According to Jesus, whoever lives in the truth loves the light so that it will be clear that his deeds are done through God.
Again, shortly after Jesus discharged the woman caught in adultery, He taught the people, saying, “I am the Light of the world: he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life”. John 8:12
Finally, Jesus declared to His followers that He is the light of the world as long as He is in the world. This was in response to His disciples’ question on the blind man Jesus healed “And his disciples asked him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was blind”. John 9:2 Jesus answered them that it was not the man that sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.
