The story of the Good Samaritan
A Jewish man was travelling, and was attacked by armed robbers on the way.
They took all his clothes and money, and they beat him really badly. Then they left him beside the road almost dead. By chance, two Jewish persons came along differently and saw the man lying there. Instead of helping him, they crossed to the other side of the road and continued on their journey. Then a Samaritan came along the same road. When the Samaritan saw the Jewish man lying down by the roadside, he had pity on him. He washed and bandaged his wounds. Then he put the man on his donkey and took him to a hotel because there were no hospitals in those days. There, the Samaritan looked after the Jewish man. When it was time for him to leave the town, the Samaritan gave the hotel owner some money. He asked him to continue to look after the sick man until he became well again.
Out of all the men who saw the Jewish man on the side of the road, the Samaritan was the only one who helped.
