Department of Accounting and Finance

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTING (M. Sc. ACCOUNTING)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Provided the University’s matriculation requirements are satisfied; Candidates are expected to have:
  2. Degree in Accounting from Samuel Adegboyega University or from any other recognized University with minimum of second-class lower division may be admitted provided the university matriculation requirements are satisfied or
  3. A postgraduate diploma in Accounting from Samuel Adegboyega University or from any other recognized University.

DURATION

Duration of the master degree programme is as follows:

  • Full-time: A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters
  • Part-time: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Provided the matriculation requirements are satisfied; Candidates are expected to have:

  1. Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the Ordinary Level (‘O’ level) in not more than two sittings and
  2. Bachelor’s Degrees not lower than third Class Division from recognized Universities, or
  3. Higher National Diploma from recognized Institutions, or
  4. Relevant professional qualifications.

DURATION

Duration of the postgraduate diploma programme is as follows:

  • Full-time: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters
  • Part-time: A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

Department of Mass Communication

  • Master of Science in Mass Communication (M. Sc. Mass Communication)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MASS COMMUNICATION (M. Sc. MASS COMMUNICATION)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. The Department admits for the Master’s degree programme, candidates who satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University, including English Language.
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from an approved university.
  3. Candidates with a minimum of second-class lower level in relevant disciplines.
  4. Candidates with a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from a recognised/accredited university shall be considered.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

  • The Master’s degree programme is expected to last for a minimum of three semesters and a maximum of six semesters for full-time students; a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of eight semesters for part-time students.
  • For extension beyond the specified maximum period, a special permission of the Board of Postgraduate School is required.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MASS COMMUNICATION

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission into the Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication is based, among others, on the following criteria:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree of not below Second-Class Lower division in the discipline other than Journalism or Mass Communication from an accredited University
  • Take and pass the admission qualifying test conducted by the Department
  • Some years of professional media experience in the print and/or the electronic media will be an added advantage.

The programme may also be open to candidates with:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) pass at the Credit level in any discipline
  • First degree in Mass Communication that is below Second-Class level

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

The PGD programme is expected to last for a minimum of two semesters for full-time students and four semesters for part-time students.

Department of Religious Studies

RELIGIOUS STUDIES  M.A

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University (five credit passes including English, and any four subjects of the Arts and Social Sciences, at the ‘O’ levels, not more than two sittings.
  • A minimum of Second Class Lower division in Religious Studies or Philosophy from Samuel Adegboyega University or any other recognized institution.
  • Candidates must possess a good Bachelor degree in Religion and its variants (e.g. Religious Studies, Religious and Cultural Studies, Religious Management and Cultural Studies, Islamic or Christian Religious Studies, Theology, etc.) not lower than a Second Class Lower division from a recognized institution.
  • Candidate holding the Professional Masters in Church Ministry and Administration of Samuel Adegboyega University, PGD/PGDE Religious Studies or Religious Studies Education or its equivalent from recognized institutions.

Department of History and Diplomatic Studies

History & Diplomatic Studies, M.A

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The criteria for admission into the M.A. Programme will be as follows:

  • Candidates for the M.A. programme in History or its variants must have five credit passes including English, History or Government at the ‘O’ Level as basic requirement.
  • Candidate with Bachelors degree in Art (BA) in History, History and International Studies, History and Diplomatic Studies, History and International Relations as well as History and Strategic Studies. The candidates must be graduates of approved and recognized universities, and must obtain a minimum of second-class lower Division degree.
  • Candidates must take and pass a qualifying examination administered by the University.

Department of Economics

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ECONOMICS (M. Sc. ECONOMICS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University (five credit passes including English, Mathematics and Economics at the ‘O’ level in not more than two sittings)
  • A good Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Samuel Adegboyega University or any other approved University whose Economics programme is accredited by the NUC
  • Must have a minimum of Second Class Lower Division Degree
  • Post Graduate Diploma degree from a cognate discipline awarded by a recognised Institution.

DURATION

Duration of the master degree programme is as follows:

  • Full-time: A Minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters
  • Part-time: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ECONOMICS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Five credit passes including English, Mathematics and Economics at the ‘O’ level in not
  • more than two sittings and,
  • Bachelor’s Degrees not lower than third Class Division from recognised Universities, or
  • Higher National Diploma from recognised Institutions, or
  • Relevant professional qualifications.

Duration of the postgraduate diploma programme is as follows:

  • Full-time: A Minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters
  • Part-time: A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of ix (6) semesters.

Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences

M.SC PROGRAMME IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the general regulation and guidelines on admission, a candidate shall normally possess a minimum of the following:

  • All candidates must have five credits passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science subjects at Ordinary Level.
  • Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second-class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0.
  • Candidates with at least a third-class degree or HND and university PGD obtain CGPA of 3.0/5.0 may be considered for admission into Master’s degree programme.

Duration of the M.Sc. Degree Programme

  • Full-Time: A minimum of Three (3) semesters and maximum of Five (5) semesters.
  • Part-Time: A minimum of five (5) semesters and maximum of Eight (8) semesters.
  • For extension beyond the specified maximum period, a special permission of Senate shall be required.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (PGDCS)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The criteria for admission into the PDG programme are as follows:

  • All candidates must have five (5) credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science subjects at ‘O’ level.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of pass degree in the relevant science discipline.
  • Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of upper credit may also be considered for admission.

DURATION

  • Full-Time Postgraduate Diploma programme shall run for a minimum of two (2) semesters and maximum of four (4) semesters.
  • The Part-Time postgraduate Diploma programme shall run for minimum four (4) semesters and maximum of six (6) semesters.

Department of Business Administration

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MANAGEMENT (M. Sc. MANAGEMENT)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The basic admission requirements for M.Sc. Degree programme will be as follows: Provided the University’s matriculation requirements are satisfied;

  • Degree in relevant area from a recognized University with minimum of second-class lower division may be admitted provided the university matriculation requirements are satisfied.
  • A postgraduate diploma in relevant area from a recognized university.

DURATION

Duration of the master degree programme is as follows:

  • Full-time: A Minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters
  • Part-time: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

MASTER IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The criteria for admission into the MBA programme will be as follows:

All candidates must have five credit passes including English and Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level, as basic requirement.

  1. Candidates with Bachelors degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second-class lower division.
  2. All candidates must have minimum of one year managerial/administrative experience.
  3. All candidates must have attained a satisfactory level of performance in the university’s admission test/ interview.
  4. All candidates must have demonstrated adequate intellectual capacity, professionalism, maturity and effective decision – making and problem-solving potentials during the university’s admission test and interview.
  5. Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university and who have passed with a minimum of Lower Credit may also be considered for admission provided the university’s matriculation requirements are satisfied.
  6. Candidates with good quantitative background and some basic knowledge of Economics will have added advantage.
  7. Holders of HND and/or professional qualification in administration disciplines are eligible for admission but must go through a mandatory nine months postgraduate diploma in the University provided they meet the basic University entry qualification.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME

  • The Full-time MBA programme should run for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
  • The Part-time should run for a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of ten semesters.
  • For extension beyond the maximum period, a special permission of the Senate shall be required.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (PGDM)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Provided the matriculation requirements are satisfied:

  1. Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the Ordinary Level (‘O’ level) in not more than two stings.
  2. Bachelor’s Degrees not lower than third Class Division from recognized Universities.
  3. Higher National Diploma from a recognized Institutions.
  4. Relevant professional qualifications.
