Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic sokoto state was established by the Sokoto state Government vised law No. 2 of 2002. The Polytechnic took off in July 2002 and is operational on two campuses.

Umaru Ali shinkafi polytechnic is a State-government-owned tertiary institution located at Sokoto State, Nigeria. It currently has eight faculties which are; the School of Administrative and Business Studies, School of Art and Humanities, School of Science and Technology, School of Engineering, School of Environmental Studies, School of Basic and Preliminary Studies, School of Agriculture and School of Center for Strategic and Development Studies.
