SUB TOPIC 1: MEANING OF RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK

RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK

Work means any human effort which can be mental or physical tailored towards earning a living.

Attitude is a consistent manner of thinking, feeling and reaction to people, groups and social issues in one’s environment.

In every society there are norms, values and attitudes that are cherished and considered useful for the well being of members and the progress of the society. Some of these values include honesty, hard work, discipline, punctuality, commitment etc.

MEANING OF RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK

Right attitude to work is the positive way a worker carries out his or her work with the aim of helping oneself and mankind.

Attitude to work can also be defined as the way or manner in which we do or carry out our duties or work.

SUB TOPIC 2: ATTRIBUTES OF RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK

• Honesty: This is the quality of being truthful and sincere in carrying out one’s duty. A worker with a positive attitude is expected to be straight forward in his dealings.
• Integrity: This means doing what is right always. A worker with a positive attitude should be trusted at all times, principled and firm in whatever stand or case he or she is pursuing.
• Commitment: It means to be selfless and to be prepared to make sacrifices with time, energy, talent and resources no matter the situation.
• Punctuality: This refers to one reporting to work on time. Right attitude to work avoids attending event behind schedules, waste of man hour and procrastination.
• Consistency: A worker should maintain the habit of doing good work always.
