FUTO Postgraduate Application Process and Degree Duration

Candidates are advised to apply on-line following the procedure given below:

Step 1: Go to the FUTO Website

Step 2: Click on Prospective Students.

Step 3: Select Postgraduate Application

Step 4: Click on the link Apply here

Step 5: Enter your email address

Step 6: Click on Generate Invoice

Step 7: Enter your details and click on submit to generate payment invoice

Step 8: Print your invoice containing your RRR number (Remita Retrieval Reference) and proceed to the bank for payment or make payment via ATM card.

Step 9: Return to Step 4 above

Step 10: Enter your email address again to complete PG Application form online

NOTE: Ensure that the referee’s email address supplied is valid as a referee form link would be sent to your referees for completion online.

Step 11: Print out a copy of the Acknowledgement Slip when the form is completed. Also, an acknowledgement would be sent to the email address you provided while filling the form. Therefore, make sure you provide a valid email address.

DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD TO THE PG SCHOOL PORTAL

Candidates should upload the following relevant documents in support of their application online.

  1. Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate/Statement of Result
  2. University Degree Certificates/Statement of Result
  3. NYSC Discharge Certificate/Exemption Certificate
  4. “O” Level Result

SUBMISSION OF ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT:

All applicants must forward their transcript to reach the Deputy Registrar/Secretary, Postgraduate School, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria,

Please note that any application without academic transcript will not be considered for admission.

All successful candidates will be notified via email/SMS.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

Ph.D Programmes:

A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters for full-time, and minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters for part-time students.

M.Sc, M.Eng, MPH and MBA Programmes:

A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters for part-time students.

PGD Programmes:

A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for part-time students.

Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture (PGD Arch.):

Two Semesters of study are required for the degree of Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture (PGD Arch.) for qualified graduates of Bachelor of Technology programme in Architecture with Third Class.

Master of Science in Architecture (M.Tech. Arch):

Four Semesters of study are required for the degree of Master of Technology in Architecture (M.Tech. Arch) for qualified graduates of the (B. Tech) programme in Architecture.

POSTGRADUATE (WEEKEND) Programmes:

  1. PGD Programmes: A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.
  2. MBA Programmes: A minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

NOTE:

  • Candidates with Bachelor or Master’s degree in Education (B.Ed and M.Ed) need not apply
  • Candidates with HND background without a Bachelor’s degree need not apply for MSc and PhD programmes.
