RAPE: Final Year Students Allegedly Impregnates A 14-year Old Teenager In Makurdi
The family of a 14-year-old girl has accused a 400-level Mechanical Engineering student of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, identified as Michael Nyitor, of allegedly defiling and impregnating the teenager in the Gaadi area of Makurdi, Benue State.
The suspect who is a friend to the victim’s relative was alleged to have gained access to the girl under the guise of seeing his friend and had carnal knowledge of the victim several times before she became pregnant.
According to the aunt of the teenager, she got to know of the illicit act after the teenager sneaked out of the room in the night on September 4, and didn't return until 5:00 am. When she was asked about her whereabouts, she lied that she went to urinate, but eventually confessed to having gone to see Micheal who has been having carnal knowledge of her.
The family further disclosed that when Micheal was confronted, he remained adamant claiming that he was not a child and that it was the girl that lured him to rape her, and if he is asked to get married to the girl, he would have to be provided with a job first or the girl was going to suffer.
The suspect was said to have later pleaded with the girl's family that he was sorry for his action and that he had not been sleeping as his spirit was not at rest, after the case was reported at the police station.
