FACULTY OF ARTS
Department of English Studies
Admission Requirements:
(i) Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree Candidates for admission into the M.A. degree programme in English (Language or Literature) must possess an honours degree in English (that is, not lower than Second Class (Honours) Lower Division) obtained from either this University or any other University recognized by Senate.
(ii) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree Candidates for admission into the Ph.D degree programme in English (Language or Literature) must have attained a minimum aggregate grade of 60% at the M.A Degree level, provided the M.A. degree was obtained from either this University or any other University recognized by Senate. However, candidates who do not have a minimum aggregate grade of 60% in the M.A. degree examination as specified above, but have an aggregate score within the range of 55% to 59.9% shall be eligible for the M.Phil/Ph.D programme. At the end of the first year, such candidates shall be eligible for conversion to the Ph.D programme if they score 60% and above in the course work.
Department of Linguistics and Languages
Admission Requirements:
For M.A degree in Linguistics/Yoruba Language/Literature, candidate must possess a B.A or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate with at least a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division. For a Doctoral degree programme, a candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Linguistics/Yoruba Language with a minimum of a Cumulative Grade of 60% and above.
Department of History and International Studies
Admission Requirements
For candidates seeking admission into M.A. Programme, the minimum requirement is a B.A. Degree in History and International Studies of this University or B.A./B.A (Ed) History from any other recognized University with at least a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division.
For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in History and International Studies with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Department of Religion and African Culture
Admission Requirements:
B.A. Religious Studies with at least Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State or any other University recognized by the Senate.
For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Religion Studies with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Department of Arts Education
Admission Requirements
For admission into the Master’s Degree programmes, candidates must have a First Degree of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, or any other University recognized by the Senate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, in relevant disciplines with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division.
For admission into the Ph.D programme in Language Education, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Education/English with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Department of Educational Management
(a) M.Ed Educational Management with areas of specialization in:
Admission Requirements:
First Degree in Education with a minimum of Second Class Honours Lower degree with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, Geography, Book-keeping & Account in SSCE or equivalent.
(b) Ph.D. Educational Management with areas of specialization in:
Admission Requirements:
M.Ed Degree in Educational Management with a Ph.D grade (4 points) in addition with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, Geography, Bookkeeping and Account in SSCE or equivalent.
Department of Guidance and Counselling
Admission Requirements:
For admission into M.Ed programme, candidates are to possess a minimum of B.Ed or equivalent First Degree not below the Second Lower Division plus PGDE at credit or merit level as the case may be.
For Doctoral Degree Programmes, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling/Test and Measurement with at least Cumulative Grade of 60% or above. From this University or any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko, Ondo State.
Department of Science and Technical Education
Admission Requirements: As provided in the Postgraduate regulations of the University. For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Science Education, and any other relevant discipline in Education with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Postgraduate Diploma in Education For PGDE Programme, candidates with Third Class Degree or HND holders with Upper Credit and substantial teaching experience may be considered. All disciplines are acceptable for admission into PGDE.

FACULTY OF LAW
Admission Requirements: The following shall be eligible for admission into the degree of Master of Laws:
(i) A holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree of the Adekunle Ajasin University, with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
(ii) A holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with Third Class and Postgraduate Diploma in law may be considered for admission into the LLM degree.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE
Department of Chemical Sciences
Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc Programme should have a B.Sc. Chemistry degree of this University or any other University not lower than Second Class Lower Division, while those seeking admission into Ph.D Programme must possess an M.Sc. with an average Cumulative Grade of 60%.
Department of Earth Sciences
Admission Requirements:
Department of Environmental Biology and Fisheries.
Admission Requirements: B.Sc. with a Second-Class Lower Division in Environmental Biology, Fisheries, Zoology, Agriculture, Parasitology, Microbiology or any other related discipline recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc degree in Fisheries or related discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% and above.
Department of Microbiology
Admission Requirements:
For the M.Sc. Degree a good honours degree in Microbiology or related fields but not below Second-Class Lower Division. The related fields like Agriculture, Biology, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Food Science, Public Health, Pharmacy and Medicine. Where necessary, undergraduate deficiency may have to be made up by offerings remedial courses without credit.
For the Ph.D degree, a candidate must have scored at least 60% or its equivalent in a Master’s degree of this or other Universities recognized by Senate.
Department of Physics and Electronics
Admission Requirements:
B.Sc in Physics or Electronics Engineering with Second Class (Honours) Lower Division for M.Sc, while candidates for Ph.D require an average of 60% Cumulative Point for Ph.D degree.
Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology
Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc programme should have a B.Sc in any related discipline from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc degree in any other related disciplines with a minimum cumulative grade 60% and above.
FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
Department of Banking and Finance
Admission Requirements
For admission into M.Sc programme, candidates are to possess a minimum of B.Sc degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration not below the Second Class of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate. Candidates will be required to undergo a selection process that will include a written qualifying examination.
For Doctoral degree programme, candidates must possess either M.Sc or M.Phil in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or any other related discipline in Management Sciences with a minimum weighted Average Scores of 60% and above.
Department of Business Administration
Admission Requirements:
The following will be eligible to seek admission into the programmes:
(i) Graduate of Adekunle Ajasin University or any other approved University with degree of Bachelor in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Operation Research, Industrial Mathematics, and at least a Second Class (Lower) Honours or its equivalent.
(ii) Those who hold a PGD Management of the Adekunle Ajasin University or its equivalent.
(iii) Those who hold an MBA of the Adekunle Ajasin University or any other approved University.
Department of Economics
Admission Requirements:
The basic requirement is B.Sc Economics with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from any University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko, with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from any recognized University. In addition, the candidate must possess a minimum of credit passes in at least five subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Government, Geography, Accounting, Commerce and History.
Department of Geography and Planning Sciences
Admission Requirements:
M.Sc of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, in Geography and Planning Sciences not below Second Class (Honours) Lower Division or those of any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko.
For admission into Doctoral Degree, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Geography or related fields acceptable to the University Senate with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Political Science and Public Administration
Admission Requirements:
B.Sc. in Political Science or Public Administration with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from any recognized university. Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc. in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Administration from a recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Pure and Applied Psychology
Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into Master’s Degree programme of the Department of Pure and Applied Psychology must possess 5 credits in ‘O’ Level including English and Biology. In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate Admission Requirement, the Department requires that candidates for admission into the M.Sc. Psychology programme of the Department should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division. Admission into M.Sc Degree Programmes is opened to graduates of this university and any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc in Psychology from a recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Sociology
Admission Requirements
The minimum requirement for the M.Sc. programme is a Second-Class Honours Lower Division in Sociology and/or Anthropology from Adekunle Ajasin University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko. The candidate should possess a credit pass in WAEC/SSCE/AL in English Language, Mathematics and Government plus any other two subjects, which must either be in the Arts or Social Sciences.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc in Sociology and/or Anthropology from a recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
