Admission Requirements and Duration of Postgraduate Degrees In BIU – Benson Idahosa University

The University admits only graduates from recognized tertiary institutions into its postgraduate programmes on meeting the requirements stipulated for the intended programmes of study. The general admission requirements and duration of postgraduate Degrees in BIU – Benson Idahosa University are as follows:

Ph.D. Programmes

Six credit in relevant O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics in WAEC or NECO.

A Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second-Class Honours Division from any University recognized by Benson Idahosa University Senate.

M.Sc or M.Phil. Degree in a related field from any University recognized by the Senate of Benson Idahosa University with a minimum of 60% average.

Master Degree Programmes

Six credit in relevant O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics in WAEC or NECO.

A minimum of a Second-Class Honours degree from a University recognized by Senate of Benson Idahosa University.

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

Six credit in relevant O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics in WAEC or NECO.

A minimum of Third-Class Honours Degree from any University recognized by Senate of Benson Idahosa University.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Hardcopy Application Forms are obtainable on payment of Fifteen Thousand and Three Hundred Naira (N15,300) only for Master Degree Forms,

Twenty Thousand and Three Hundred Naira (N20,300) only for Doctorate Degree Forms,

Ten Thousand and Three Hundred Naira (N10,300) only for Postgraduate Diploma Programme Forms.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

Ph.D Degree Programmes:

A minimum of six (6) academic semesters and maximum of Ten (10) academic semesters.

Master Degree Programmes:

A minimum of three (3) academic semesters and maximum of six (6) academic semesters.

Postgraduate Degree Programmes:

A minimum of two (2) academic semesters and maximum of four (4) academic semesters.
