3 Reasons Why Candidates Fail 2016 Marketing WAEC

Yet to be acknowledged by some candidates and even the teachers that marketing can be failed grossly if the rules are not strictly adhered to. Candidates’ Weaknesses

Some or the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts were:

1. Candidates could not interpret the questions to know exactly what the questions required them to do.
2. Some candidates were unable to express themselves in simple correct English that will bring out their knowledge of subject matter.
3. Some candidates answered one question on different pages of the answer booklet.

Suggested Remedies

1. O’ level marketing text books should be made available to candidates preparing for the examination.
2. Qualified teachers should be employed in schools to teach the subjects.
3. Teachers should ensure that the syllabus is covered before the candidates’ seat for the examination.
4. Candidates should endeavour to lean the rules of English grammar so as to enable them express their points clearly.
5. Subject teachers should teach their students how to answer question based on the way the questions were asked so as to give the required response.

Candidates’ Strength

Candidates did well in questions (1a – c), (2a) and (5a & c). These questions covered area of pricing, marketing concepts, products and sales promotion
