3 Reasons Why Candidates Fail 2012 Commerce WAEC

Going by the data made available by the WAEC, the followings were pinned as reasons why Candidates fail 2012 Commerce WAEC. Carefully study the reasons, suggested and remedies if you are a prospective candidate or the subject teacher.

Some of the weaknesses observed in candidates’ Scripts were:

1. Some candidates could not explain their points in a correct English; hence they muddled their answers.
2. Some candidates did not do well in questions on marketing and calculation of capitals and profits of limited liability company which are in questions 6 and 10 respectively.
3. Inadequate coverage of the Syllabus which led to poor performance in questions on marketing and calculation of capital and profit of limited liability company.

WAEC Suggested Remedies

The following remedies were offered by the chief examiner in order to boost prospective candidate score, carefully take a look!

1. The teachers should teach the candidates the rudiments of English language so as to enable the candidates express their answers clearly.
2. The teachers should endeavor to complete the examination syllabus in good time so as to have enough time for revision which enables the candidates master all the topics very well.

Candidate’s Strengths

The candidates shown appreciable effort in these areas:

1. Some Candidates kept to the rubrics and presented their answers in an orderly manner.
2. Some candidates did well in questions that required state, explain and comparison which are in questions 2,5 and 9 respectively.
3. Some candidates were able to draw and fill charts showing the main division of commerce.
